About Rob Bates

Hi guys, my name is Rob Bates and welcome to my site. I was born and raised in Sheffield and nowadays I spend a lot of my time out in the Peak District.

I specialise in landscapes and timelapse videography, but also focus a lot on wildlife, astrophotography, macro and urbex. To be fair, I enjoy anything photography related. As a tattoo artist by trade I found myself needing a decent camera to take pictures of my work, after seeking the advice from a friend on what to buy he then invited me out to a derelict building to go through camera settings with me, and basically from then on I was hooked.

I love tattooing but photography is definitely where my passion lies. Five years on and my passion is still super strong and I have been featured on tv shows such as BBC Sky at Night, ITV Calendar and Look North, and had pictures shown in various magazines and newspapers, Daily Star, Wildlife Photography World, Digital Photographer magazine just to name a few.

Now I am currently obsessed with timelapse videography so every opportunity I get I find myself heading out somewhere to shoot sunsets, sunrises, even the milkyway. With big names like Snowdonia and Iceland already booked I look forward to sharing with you some of the stunning locations I explore and hope to inspire you to get out and venture and take it all in.
